Anne Shiels

Associate Consultant

Anne understands the role of senior leadership like no other because she has been there before. Her nuanced understanding of senior level responsibilities allows her to enact change at 3 different levels of business: individual, team, and organisation-wide.

I work with senior leaders in organisations to develop their leadership talent and organisational capability, and to support them to navigate through complex organisational change.

This may be as a result of M&A activity, during business start up phases, business turnarounds or during periods of accelerated growth.  Indeed any time when senior leadership teams recognise the need to invest in their own effectiveness and the development of their talent.

The work I do may include:

  • Individual coaching to provide a safe space for Executives to think through their challenges and solutions to reach more rounded solutions.
  • Team coaching, including real time interventions, for when a team wants to improve how they work and how they spend their time together
  • Team facilitation to support leaders to plan and deliver more effective meetings either on a large or small scale.
  • OD consulting for when a business wants to review its capabilities, talent and culture and consider how it is organised to deliver its business goals.

I am a former Executive Director with multiple sector experience in both FTSE 100 and privately owned companies including Retail, Telecoms, Manufacturing, Banking and FMCG.  I am known for my expertise in leading large-scale complex organisational change programmes.  Working both internationally and in the UK, I have also been part of an Executive team, which planned and delivered a successful IPO.

Building organisational capability and aligning culture, talent and succession plans with the company’s strategic goals have been at the heart of my work. Coaching and mentoring board colleagues during times of transformational change, acting as their trusted advisor and retaining their support is where I have been seen to add particular value.

Having sat in the shoes of the senior leaders I now support, I bring a pragmatic and commercial focus to my work and I strive to build strong relationships with a warm and engaging approach. My clients tell me this is underpinned by the strength and courage to pose the insightful and thought provoking questions that lead to the path to change.

I am a member of the CIPD and hold a postgraduate diploma in Advanced Executive Coaching as well as qualifications in systemic team coaching and facilitation. I am trained to interpret a number of psychometric instruments and I am a Leader in Residence at Leeds University Business School.
